'Bippity Bop Barbershop' by Natasha Anastasia Tarpley. Written in a reassuring tone with a jazzy beat and illustrated with graceful, realistic watercolours- this book captures an important rite of passage for boys and celebrates African-American identity.
'The Boy and the Bindi' by Vivek Shraya. This booked encouraged the children to be inquisitive, accepting and understanding of other cultures.
'Get Up, Stand Up' based on the song by Bob Marley & adapted by Cedella Marley. The children loved the messages of kindness, courage & standing up for not only what you believe in, but also for justice. The children all enjoyed singing & dancing along too.
