RWI Inc. is the phonics scheme used at All Saints’ and all staff have been trained in how to deliver sessions. During the Summer Term of Nursery and first half of the Autumn Term in Reception, the children are taught, as a whole class, the set 1 sounds and to play blending games with Fred.

After 6 weeks, all children in Reception are assessed and placed in streamed RWI groups according to their level. We stream with KS1 in order to deliver sessions that are small groups and pitched at the correct level.

Sessions range from 30 minutes for the set 1 groups and run for up to an hour daily once the children reach ditty level.
