Year 6’s Africa Art Exhibition!

We are very proud of year 6, whose Africa Art Project formed part of a wider exhibition in London on ‘The Sights and Sounds of Africa’

This term Miss Akwa has been teaching Year 6 Art and they have been studying Africa putting together an amazing portfolio of their work which was showcased at this exhibition.

They have been taught about a range of techniques as well as painting and drawing including; Using African wax prints known as Ankara to make colourful baseball caps. They learnt about making mosaics and used this technique to recreate the colourful flags of Ghana, Senegal, Togo, Uganda, Tanzania and Malawi. They also learnt about quilling, the art of folding paper to create colourful maps of Africa.

We have created an album of the artwork at the exhibition for you all to see.
