2. What is the impact of PE at All Saints'?
The All Saints' Approach, paired with the positive culture supporting Physical Education (PE) permeates other aspects of school life, creating an environment where students feel supported, motivated, and connected. PE contributes to the All Saints' ethos and adds to our holistic approach. It not elevates physical fitness levels but nurtures teamwork, bolsters confidence, and fosters a positive school culture. The enduring effects of this impact are evident in the well-rounded, resilient, and confident individuals emerging from the school's PE program.
By the end of Year 6, we expect pupils to:
- Have demonstrated a noticeable improvement in the physical fitness levels of the pupils overtime.
- Show a commitment and enthusiastic participation in well-designed PE activities and a awareness that this contributes to enhanced cardiovascular health, increased muscular strength, and improved overall coordination.
- Have instilled a lifelong habit of a healthy lifestyle.
- Be able to work as a team and work collaboratively.
- Be confident in participating in a variety of team sports and group activities in preparation for Key Stage 3
- To actively challenge themselves, set personal goals, and celebrate achievements.
- To demonstrate resilience and personal growth.
- Be able to create their own sequences, games and routines utilising the skills explicitly taught and built overtime; being able to evaluate their performances for effectiveness
- We assess by ongoing teacher observation, peer and self evaluation and through discussing the learning with the children. This is used in part to identify children’s next steps and is also used to assess children against the progression map for PE in line with national curriculum expectations.
Our continuing CPD, based on lesson observations and skills audits, ensures that our teachers are up-to-date and confident providers of high quality PE teaching.
