2. What is the impact of Spanish at All Saints'?

Within Spanish, we encourage a creative and collaborative environment in which pupils can learn to express and challenge themselves. The success of the curriculum will be evaluated via regular formative and summative assessments, lesson observations and skills audits. This will then inform future adaptions of the Spanish curriculum and help to ensure progression is evident throughout the school.

In order to demonstrate that we have accomplished our aims, by the end of Year 6, pupils at All Saints' Primary School will:

  • Be enthusiastic and confident in their approach towards their Spanish learning
  • Be empowered to feel resilient and enthusiastic about learning a modern foreign language
  • Be aware that a language has a structure, and that the structure differs from one language to another
  • Be able to recognise that making mistakes is an important part of the language learning process, yet maintain high expectations of themselves as individuals
  • Create and evaluate their own outcomes e.g. through creating and developing conversations with each other, producing written work
  • Be able to self-assess their Spanish learning, and be able to evaluate and reflect upon their next steps
  • Children will enrich their language learning by developing an understanding of the Spanish culture
  • Children will transfer to KS3 effectively and successfully and will be well-prepared to continue and develop their language skills

Our continuing CPD, based on lesson observations and skills audits, ensures that our teachers are up-to-date and confident providers of high quality Spanish teaching.
